Bedroom lighting installation Milton ONThe bedroom, a sanctuary after a hard day’s work. A room where you might spend a third or your life sleeping. You spend so much time in this room, it's worthwhile to maximize its lighting and mood. The kitchen and bathrooms get a lot of traffic, but the bedroom is comparable or exceeds other rooms in terms of time spent. Installing a bedroom light fixture should not be as simple as putting a hideous fixture in the centre of the room. There should be other considerations as well. The ambiance should reflect the different uses in a bedroom, so while it’s fine to install a regular switch, your bedroom will turn into an oasis if you consider adding dimmers. Make sure the light fixture is dimmable, but beyond that, let us handle the dimmer switch wiring for you.
What lighting solution is best for the main bedroom light? That depends on various factors including the size of your room. Obviously the bigger the room, the more illuminating power you will need. Measure the height, width and depth of your room. With those numbers in hand, our expert electricians can advise you of the best lighting power for the bedroom. Aesthetically-speaking, a larger room can handle a more grand light fixture, or even a dropped chandelier, but of course your personal taste and preference will come into play here. The bigger the room, the more lighting power you need. Take the measurements from floor to ceiling as well as from side to side. Our experts can advise which lighting solution is best for you. Do you read before bedtime? If so, a nightstand lamp flanking both sides of the bed will create a nice symmetry and balance to your room. If long term value and maintenance are of concern, consider investing in an LED reading light. |

There's another "room within a room" we need to consider: the closet. Whether you have regular closet or walk-in closet, this arguably has more lighting requirements than the actual bedroom itself. If you're searching through racks of clothing or looking for a piece of jewelry, your tie, your belts, your accessories, this is no place to skimp on lighting. If it's a walk-in closet and depending on its size, you may need a couple of potlights. Thankfully, this is one room where you don't really need accent lighting. Task lighting can be added to illuminate the areas where there are dark pockets and it's difficult to find your accessories. But these are all optional. You can get away with simple ambient lighting here, but ensure the light fixture has enough lumens to not require additional accessory illumination.
